CALVARY ON MISSION

Food Distributions

On the second Monday of every month, we open our parking lot to share a little more than just food -- we share community. Through our partnership with The Shepherd's Heart Pantry, we host a Free Food Distribution that brings together volunteers from all walks of life: folks who call Calvary home, Baylor students, neighbors from other congregations, and friends of all of the above. It's one of our favorite days of the month, and we'd love for you to be part of it.

West Avenue Elementary

Calvary partners with staff and students at West Avenue Elementary School (15th & West Ave.).  West Avenue is part of the Waco Independent School District and serves students K-5th in the Sanger-Heights Neighborhood.  You may get involved as a Reading Club Leader or a Mentor.

Reading Club Leaders meet with 2-3 students once a week during the students' lunch period.  During this 35 minutes, the leader and children read grade level books together to improve literacy.

Mentors work with students in a classroom setting to help the student improve academically and provide accountability for the student.  Mentoring sessions are typically less than one hour per week for the academic year.

If you would like to get involved, please contact Jennifer Low at jlow@hot.rr.com

Mission waco

toy drive

Each year, our church partners with Mission Waco's annual Christmas Toy Store to help Waco families celebrate the holidays. The volunteer-run Toy Store gives low-income parents the opportunity to purchase brand-new toys and gifts for their children at up to 80% off retail price, serving over 600 parents and 2,000 children each year. We collect donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant through 10 years old, which are picked up as part of the Annual Biker Toy Run - a fun tradition where local churches unite to support families in our community.
